Pure-Tone Audiometry

Measurement of whether sounds of different frequencies can be heard, performed in a soundproof booth.

Pure-tone audiometry is the basic hearing test used to determine the degree and type of hearing loss (conductive, sensorineural or mixed). It is used in adults and children to assess the need for hearing aids.

The test takes about 20-30 minutes and is painless.
