OGTT (Oral Glucose Tolerance Test)
Gestational diabetes screening test measuring blood glucose after a standard glucose solution.
OGTT is typically performed between 24-28 weeks of gestation. Fasting glucose is measured, a 75 g glucose solution is given, and blood samples are taken at 1 and 2 hours. The diagnosis of gestational diabetes is based on these measurements.
The test is done in the morning after fasting and the mother remains in the hospital for the duration.
