Assessment of fetal growth, placenta and amniotic fluid during pregnancy follow-up.
Obstetric ultrasound is performed to confirm viability in the first trimester, perform a detailed anomaly scan in the second trimester and assess fetal growth, placental position and amniotic fluid in the third trimester.
The scan takes 15-30 minutes and carries no radiation risk for the mother.
