Microbiological Culture
Cultivation of the causative microorganism from urine, blood, throat, wound or stool specimens, with antibiogram.
Microbiological cultures are the gold standard for identifying the causative bacterium and selecting the appropriate antibiotic when infection is suspected. Results are typically available within 24-72 hours.
Samples must be collected aseptically and perineal cleansing is recommended before urine culture.
