Gastroscopy
Examination of the esophagus, stomach and duodenum via a thin camera inserted through the mouth.
Gastroscopy is the gold standard for diagnosing reflux, gastritis, ulcer, Helicobacter pylori infection and gastric tumors. Biopsies can be taken and bleeding controlled when necessary.
The procedure is performed under mild sedation and takes about 10-15 minutes. Eating and drinking must be stopped 6-8 hours beforehand.
